Enrique is a senior counsel who brings over 20 years of intellectual property experience to the firm.  Through the combination of his highly specialized educational and professional background in the law, business and engineering, he is able to provide distinctively intuitive, expert strategic counsel to his clients.

 Enrique focuses all types of intellectual property matters including intellectual property litigation and licensing, copyright, patent and trademark portfolio management and development, non-infringement and invalidity opinions, and all phases of preparation and prosecution of foreign and domestic trademark and patent applications, in addition to due diligence related to mergers and acquisitions.  He has also participated in various aspects of litigation relating to copyright, trademark, trade dress, and patent infringement.  Enrique has counseled clients in intellectual property matters relating to acquiring intellectual property rights, analyzing IP assets for infringement/non-infringement or invalidity, and licensing.  He also specializes in preparing and prosecuting patent applications specializing in the Electrical Arts.

Enrique’s technical areas of expertise include wireless voice and data communications, computer networking, antenna design, business methods, software, medical devices, medical diagnostic systems, GPS and navigation systems, control systems, audio and video processing, audio and video communications, digital signal processing, optics, digital recording media, semiconductors, audio systems and devices.

With regard to litigation, Enrique has represented clients in litigation in the U.S. District Courts for the Central District of California, the Northern District of California, the Southern District of New York, the Northern District of Illinois, and the District of Delaware.  He has been responsible for formulating litigation strategy, managing discovery, taking/defending depositions, motion practice, conducting Markman hearings, and managing the Markman phase of certain cases.  Enrique has also successfully represented asylum applicant pro bono in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit.

Enrique’s previous legal experience includes being a partner at The Eclipse Group LLP and McDonnell Boehnen Hulbert & Berghoff, LLP, and counsel and associate roles at Sonnenschein Nath and Rosenthal (now SNR-Denton) and Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione.
