Raouf practices predominantly in the areas of patent preparation, patent prosecution, and intellectual property litigation. Raouf’s practice also includes handling civil litigation matters; as well as transactional matters, such as contracts, NDAs, and Intellectual Property licensing. As a software engineer and information technology professional, Raouf has over 14 years’ experience working with various software, computer, and electrical technologies; including Internet hosting, database and Internet applications, semiconductors, telecommunications, and foreign exchange/financial systems. Raouf’s patent prosecution/litigation experience included, but has not been limited to, preparing and prosecuting U.S. and PCT patent applications in a variety of electronic, software, hardware, and chemical arts; infringement and validity studies; civil litigation support; trademark practice; and in-house counsel practice. Representative arts of Raouf’s patent practice include Computer hardware/software, Digital Signal Processing, Navigation Systems, Loudspeakers, wireless networking, GPS systems, vehicle navigation systems, audio receivers and transducers, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), magnetic resonance imaging systems (MRI), Chrome-like Coating, Chemiluminescent Compositions, and Nutraceutical Compositions. Prior to joining the Apogee Law Group, Raouf practiced Intellectual Property Law as patent attorney at The Eclipse Group, LLP, and gained valuable Intellectual Property Law experience while working as a Staff Attorney at Hero Nutritionals, Inc., a pioneer nutraceuticals manufacturer. During his tenure at Hero Nutritionals, Inc., Raouf worked on high profile Intellectual Property litigation, Trademark Preparation/Prosecution, Patent Preparation/Prosecution, and Contract/Corporate Law practice. Raouf earned his J.D. at Western State University College of Law with a certificate in business law. While in law school, Raouf received a Certificate of Appreciation for outstanding work as a Year-In-Review Writer at Western State University’s Law Review Journal. Additionally, Raouf received the WITKIN award and was honored on the Dean’s list for outstanding academic achievements. Raouf has a B.S. degree in computer science from York University in Toronto, Canada, with a specialization in databases and software engineering. After graduating from York University, Raouf created many database-driven systems, customized business applications and web-technologies, and lead numerous software development projects while working for world renowned corporations, such as Yahoo Inc., Conexant Systems Inc., Countrywide Home Loans, Greenlight Loans, and Nationstar Mortgage.
